Three Degrees of Reiki Training

Reiki is a traditional ‘energy-based’ healing practice, with roots in Japan, though the practice itself has in the last 80 or so years of its existence spread to much of the world beyond Japan, particularly finding widespread appeal in the United States.Reiki is carried out by trained practitioners (either to heal themselves or their ‘clients’) and there are three degrees of Reiki training. In the first degree of Reiki training, potential practitioners get familiarized with the basic principles of the practice. Among the most basic things learnt at this degree are the way to hold their hands while in practice (in order to make the healing take effect), as well as the Reiki code of conduct and other such basics. It is not hard to attain the first degree of Reiki training. Indeed, the recommended training period is just four days, during which the student’s are given the first four ‘attunements’ of Reiki, which are important here as Reiki healing is based on properly ‘attuning’ one’s – or one’s patient’s energy. So the student is given one attunement a day. And with these, the new Reiki practitioner can not only heal themselves of various ailments, but also even heal others seeking their help in healing. In the second degree of Reiki training, the potential practitioner is introduced to the often secret Reiki symbols and how to employ them in the healing practice. Here, again, the potential practitioner is given a further attunement, and with this, he cannot not only heal himself or others near him, but also heal others away from him. The attunement given here also increases the strength of the healing. Then there is the third degree of Reiki training. This is seen as the ultimate qualification in Reiki training, an attainment of which confers to one the title of Reiki master. A Reiki master can not only heal themselves and others seeking their help, but they can also train other potential Reiki practitioners. And since training Reiki practitioners essentially involves giving attunements to them, then it follows that the practitioner who attains the third degree of Reiki training can now actually give attunements to other people seeking to become Reiki practitioners themselves. The attainment of Reiki mastery is not very easy – especially in the more conservative forms of Reiki teachings – and it might therefore be years before a student can earn this third degree of Reiki training (though it might be even possible to earn it in a day in the more ‘liberal’ Reiki practices).  The traditional name for this third degree of Reiki training was Shinpiden, and it is actually Hawayo Takata (one of the earliest practitioners of Reiki healing) who introduced the term ‘Reiki master’ for this level of Reiki training. Hawayo, who had traveled very widely in the United States (and who is responsible for the spread of Reiki to the states and indeed to the rest of the world outside Japan) also introduced a mark-up price for training at this level, namely ten thousand US dollars.

The Anugraha Reiki System of Healing

Anugraha Reiki is one of the many forms of the popular Reiki system of healing. Reiki has its origins traced back to Japan where the practice was developed by a Tendai Budhhist named Mikao Usui in 1922. He was said to have discovered the technique after a 21-day retreat on Mount Kurama.

After undergoing meditation, fasting and prayer during the retreat, Usui claimed to have received some mystical revelation and was handed down the knowledge as well as the spiritual power for healing.

Reiki has been known to be fairly easy and simple to use. Everyone is said to be able to employ the system to achieve spiritual healing of self as well as others. Teaching the system usually involves three parts which are better known as degrees. The first degree usually teaches the basic theories and procedures with using Reiki energy.

This energy is said to pass through a channel in the body which can be opened by way of four “attunements” given by the Reiki master to a student. The first degree of training also involves the learning of certain hand placements that allow the Reiki energy to heal people.

The second degree of the Reiki training involves the use of the Reiki symbols and how they can be used to enhance healing. Students are also taught how to provide distant healing. This will allow people to be able to heal others without being physically present. The third degree of the Reiki training involves making the student become a Reiki master. As a Reiki master, a person may now be able to attune others to Reiki and teach the system to others.

Different forms of Reiki now exist and each one of them provides different ways of providing spiritual healing. One of them is the Anugraha Reiki which is a mystical healing art that originated in India. The word “Anugraha” means Grace, which is considered as one of the five functions of the Divine that ultimately leads to Liberation or “Mukti”. Anugraha can also refer to the Power of Revelation. On another level, the word can also relate to Mercy.

Just like the Japanese form of Reiki, the first level of Anugraha Reiki focuses on self healing, self awareness, replenishment and perfecting relationship. A Diksha or attunement is given to help activate seldom used parts of the brain. A simple yet advanced spiritual practice is taught to help transform a person’s consciousness and result to deep states of awareness within 30 days.

The second level of the Anugraha Reiki focuses on healing others. During this period, sacred sounds are being taught that is said to help invoke positive consciousness. An advanced form of meditation is also taught. A type of special mantra used to invoke the presence is taught along with the techniques for doing healing work both through personal and long distance means.

The third degree initiation of Anugraha Reiki involves the teaching of the esoteric use of important Reiki symbols that can be used for different means such as for astral projection, meditation, altering time or space, bridging the worlds of life and death, and easing the transition process. There are two additional master symbols are also revealed.

For a student to succeed and qualify for the third degree of teaching, he or she should already be relatively clear of his or her own physical and psychological suffering.

The Basics Of Reiki

After a 3 week fasting retreat on Mount Kumara in Japan in the early 1920s, Mikao Usui developed Reiki. Two Japanese symbols make up the word Reiki, they are Rei, which is Spirit and Ki, which is life force. Therefore, the practice of Reiki is the channeling of the universal Spirit energy, life force. It involves the Reiki practitioner lying on of their hands to channel this energy into the recipients body. During a Reiki treatment, the recipient lies fully clothed upon a couch, the practitioner will then make gentle contact along various parts of the body. There are times when the energy flow channels without actually touching the body. Some practitioners hold a distance of just a few centimeters away from the body. However, Reiki treatments are applicable remotely or by long distance. At these times, the flow of energy focuses on a symbol, which represents the recipient, who is located in a different area.
Reiki practitioners believe that this energy is universal, and does not originate from the practitioner rather it flows freely from the Universe into the top of the head or the crown chakra and continues to flow out through the hands and into the recipient. Since this is Universal energy at work, it can be practiced on oneself as well as learned and used by any number of individuals, no matter their intellect or other abilities.
Reiki is classified as an alternative, harmonizing therapy it is not a religion. By attuning these energy flows within the body, while clearing any blockage of energy, it has a holistic influence. Reiki has no claim of providing immediate relief of any individual pains; there is personal evidence that Reiki is helpful for a vast number of ailments. Reiki works by supporting and stimulating the natural healing process of the body. The recipient must be a willing participant, in order for Reiki to work efficiently, sin any resistance by the recipient will cancel out the effects of a treatment. A variety of physical reactions during Reiki treatments have been reported, such as twitching while no one else may feel a thing, warmth, cold and tingling. Very often, a Reiki treatment provides you with a feeling of relaxation and mental calmness.
Typically, a Reiki session involves the lying on of hands to particular areas of the body for about 3 to 5 minutes, before moving on to the next area. There may be up to 20 different areas to covered, such as the head, the back and front of the torso, the knees and feet. The whole treatment can last anywhere between 45 minutes to an hour and a half. If there is a particular complaint or problem, the treatment can be localized in its focus and intent. Reiki can be practiced in a formal setting as well as an informal setting, which combines with social interaction. At these times, each practitioner may take a turn at being the recipient of such treatments.
Reiki practices may include:
- Kenyoku Ho
This is a practice of cleansing the body, heart and spirit. It involves the sweeping movements of the hands to alternate from the right shoulder to the left hip and then from the left shoulder to the right hip.
- Hatsurei Ho
This is a practice of unifying the body and mind, while purifying the mind. It involves sitting still or the seiza position, while reciting precise, calming verses of poetry.
Keep in mind that it is not recommendable to discontinue any form of treatment in lieu of Reiki treatments, since it does not claim to be a substitute for any form of treatment. Reiki does however, offer various potential benefits. It has been graciously received, since its introduction to the west, in 1938, but Hawayo Takata. Reiki has many powerful advantages, such as being simple to learn and practice, while being non-invasive, with little to no bad side effects and it can be self-administered.
Although, Reiki is not a religion, it does promote more than a few principles of origin, these are attributed to Emperor Meiji, and they include:
Just for today – Be compassionate and honest with yourself and with others.
Just for today – Avoid worrisome anger.
Following these principles are very beneficial and helpful, regardless of the other benefits provided by the practice of Reiki.

Understanding Reiki Healings – Part 2 of 3

Reiki healing treatments give many benefits. A total healing can occur and at times …there are amazing miracle recoveries. But traditionally, Reiki removes the old negative energy-layer by layer.

Reiki Benefits Those In Hospitals

The Reiki energy is a natural energy from the Universe. It’s unlimited and it seems to know what to do without any effort on the part of the practitioner except for them to start the flow by drawing the Reiki symbols in the air or just thinking… Reiki heal.

The client always feels refreshed after a treatment. When the healing treatment is combined with the sincere desire of the healee to do whatever it takes to get better, the results are very beneficial. Some times there is a healing crisis (a release of toxins causing some discomfort) because of the cleansing within their physical, emotional and spiritual body. When this happens, toxins are released within the body, and the client should drink plenty of spring water and take it easy for a few days. Further Reiki applications assist the body in cleaning itself and dissipating the released toxins.

Reiki healing is beneficial to the health of men, woman (even pregnant women), children, babies, pets, farm animals, plants, garden flowers and you can even bless your water and your automobile with this energy.

There is great respect among those in the Reiki (healing arts) community. Reiki people know and feel there is a common bond between them. They know that they are helping the world become a better and more peaceful place.

It’s wonderful that almost all practitioners feel the harmony and joy that flowing The healing Light brings to each one of us. It is a natural high without drugs.

When you are Reiki you are taught not to take on the problems of others and not to use your own energy for healing.

Reiki healing energy is an energy tool you take with you everywhere you go. It’s built into your body and hands for use at any moment, any time, anywhere for on-the-spot treatment for your automobile’s stuck starter, a dead battery, your friend’s stress release, pain relief from injury, and/or even to give yourself a quick burst of energy while driving on long trips.

Reiki Helps People With Negative Or Blocked Energy

Most people suffer a little bit from blocked energy flow. When your “Life Force Energy” is disrupted, weakened, or blocked the physical body can no longer do its maintenance work to keep the body going. Because the body is weakened … mental, emotional and physical problems tend to occur.

When the flow of good energy is blocked the person has a low vibrational frequency. They are often found in destructive relationships and lifestyles. They appear to be on a self-sabotage or self-destruct path by continually making the wrong choices. They neglect themselves in many ways. Plus they don’t (or can’t) love themselves or others. That causes a real strain on relationships. They push away and hurt the people who love them. This emotional turmoil can be helped by Reiki treatments.

Reiki raises the vibrational frequency of the client and the healer. It promotes, health, joy, and well-being for all.

Reiki Healing Do We Need The Symbols Or Just The Intent & Belief?

Healing with Reiki is a natural process, open and available to all that require it. This natural life force energy is administered in many ways and the use of sacred symbols is believed to enhance the healing power/energy. But are these symbols really necessary?  Are the sacred symbols just a tool used to implement the Intent and Belief that healing will take place? Intent and belief in any natural healing system is alone a powerful tool, regardless of additional equipment. Whether the additional equipment is, in this case, sacred symbols.

Lets look at Intent and belief within Reiki healing. Belief; with Reiki the belief by the practitioner/healer is in the use of secret symbols, generally speaking, that are said to enhance and intensify the flow of energy. With the client, the belief is that healing will take place and help. Putting the client to one side for a moment lets look at the practitioner/healer. Their belief is in the symbols, but will healing work/take place without any reference to these symbols?

Well, the answer is “Yes”. In several experiments at the TSL Holistic Centre, I carried out Reiki healing sessions without refereeing to or thinking about any of the Reiki symbols. I must point out that the actual clients were not aware of the experiments, as we had to maintain and respect their personal beliefs in the Reiki healing.

Clients were booked in the normal manner for a 30-minute Reiki healing session. After the client was settled the session proceeded. Remember although I was not going to use the reiki healing symbols in any way I still had the Intent and Belief that healing would take place and that there would be an energy transference. For the experiment I was going to substitute the healing symbols with “Pot Noodle” flavours. Yes, you read right, for the healing session I was going to think about pot noodles…

Throughout the healing session I thought and concentrated on Pot Noodles. For each different flavour I thought about and imagined and believed that the healing energy was flowing freely. The client was totally relaxed and believed that they were receiving Reiki healing in the normal way, i.e. through the use of symbols.  After the session had finished all clients that were involved in these experiments remarked how they felt different to how they normally did.  Ask in what way, they are commented that they felt more relaxed and more energised. They thanked me for the healing session and left. We chose not to tell them about the pot noodle experiment so not to alter their personal beliefs in Reiki.

A question that was asked by other therapists at the TSL Holistic Centre, was “Was the thoughts of pot noodles really that powerful” Well I’m afraid not, for it was not some hidden power of pot noodles that helped, but the Intent and Belief that healing would take place, Intent and belief from both the client and myself. One of the clients telephoned the following day; following her session, and commented that she had had the best nights sleep in months and again thanked me for the Reiki healing. In a light and humorous way I asked them if they thought healing with pot noodles in mind, might work?  There answer “Don’t be silly, how could that be possible”. To this day the client does not know about the pot noodle experiment.

So with Reiki Healing Do We Need The Symbols Or Just The Intent & Belief?

You decide.

What is Reiki Energy Healing?

Dr. Mikao Usui founded Reiki in the mid-nineteenth century while he was searching for the ancient secret of healing. It was in the Indian sutras, written in Sanskrit, where he discovered a formula for contacting a higher power that could bestow healing. During a 21 day fast and meditation on the mountain of Kort-Yama, he followed the formula and experienced a beam of white light that had the consciousness and healing power he had been seeking. This beam of light struck him in the forehead and rendered him unconscious. During this state he rose out of his physical body and was shown beautiful colorful bubbles of light that contained the Reiki symbols. As he contemplated each symbol he received an attunement for each symbol and the knowledge of its use. This was the beginning of Dr. Usui practicing Reiki energy healing around Japan for the remainder of his life. There is much more about the history of Reiki. I encourage you to check out “The Spirit of Reiki,” by Walter Lubeck, Frank Arjava Petter, and William Lee Rand, “Reiki: Universal Life Energy,” by B. Baginski and S. Sharamon, “The Reiki Handbook,” by L. Arnold and S. Nevius, “Empowerment Through Reiki,” by P. Horan, and “The Reiki Touch,” by J. C. Stewart. Reiki is hands on energy healing. It can also be done a couple of inches off the body as well as absentee long distance healing. Traditional Usui Reiki attunes practitioners to different levels of Reiki with the symbols Dr Usui was shown on Mt. Kort-Yama. This allows the universal life-force energy to flow though our bodies and out our hands into our clients. Our hands may get hot or our clients may feel heat flowing from our hands into their bodies. In the case of long distance healing we are sending the energy through an ether tube to our client. With Reiki, we are really just conduits for the universal energy of Love. This healing energy is channeled into different parts of the body for the highest healing purpose of the client, the Reiki practitioner, and the universe. We are not doing any healing. The client decides whether or not to heal with the help and healing power of the universe. We are just facilitating the energy process and witnessing the results! Reiki has been shown to facilitate many types of miraculous healings. It can and may happen. However, to practice Reiki and claim healing of sickness or disease or any other type of illness is in error and out of integrity. Healing energy is always present with Reiki; it’s just that we as ego based carbon life forms do not know what the real healing is for each individual client. Much healing is associated with the lessons we are to learn in this incarnation. I urge you to not be attached to what you think healing is for each individual. It will not benefit you or your clients. Love is the only thing that is real when it comes to healing. In Reiki I students experience the first level attunement, learn about the history of Reiki and their Reiki Master linage, hand positions, kanji positions, grounding and centering, scanning and beaming, hands on clinical practice, and other more specialized techniques depending on the Reiki Master. In Reiki II students experience the second level attunement, learn some of the Reiki symbols, long distance healing, emotional healing and balancing from the heart, root/sacrum, and the mental level, removing clouds from the emotional layer, hands on clinical practice, and other more specialized techniques depending on the Reiki Master. In the Reiki III Masters Certification students experience the third level attunement, learn the Reiki Master Empowerment Symbol, how to teach Reiki, attune students to all three levels of Reiki, how to Love and heal thyself, hands on clinical practice, and other more specialized techniques depending on the Reiki Master. I must stress that Reiki has become so popular with many different teachers and as a result there are many different techniques and preferences that have been incorporated into Reiki under the traditional Usui Reiki umbrella. One thing I would recommend is that you look for a teacher who will give you plenty of clinical hands on practice. In addition, there are a plethora of other Reiki practices that have arisen over the years. No one type is better than another. It is the intent and humility of the Reiki Master teacher and practitioner that is most important. It is how the different Reiki practices resonate for you. You are the only one who knows what works best for you. I have found over 30 forms of Reiki other than the traditional Usui Reiki founded by Dr. Mikao Usui. I encourage you to read about them and research them to determine you own Reiki path or in finding a Reiki Master or Reiki practitioner that resonates with you. Here are a couple of useful places on the Internet to begin your search: http://www.reiki-4-all.com/index.php?showtopic=17 andhttp://www.medindia.net/alternativemedicine/reiki/Reiki7.htm. Here is a quick list of the different types of Reiki I have come across: Usui Reiki, Tibetan Reiki, Usui/Tibetan Reiki, Karuna Reiki, Gendai Reiki, Rainbow Reiki, Five Element Seichem, Seichim or Seichem or Sekhem, Tera-Mai® and Tera-Mai® Seichem, Shamballa Reiki, Kundalini Reiki, Imara Reiki, Raku Kei Reiki, Shamanic Reiki, The Radiance Technique® (TRTAI), Reiki Plus®, Johrei or Jo Reiki, Men Chho Reiki® or Medicine Dharma Rei Kei©, Traditional Japanese Reiki, Satya Japanese Reiki, Reiki Jin-Kei Do©, EnerSense-Buddho, Golden Age Reiki, New Life Reiki, Blue Star Reiki, Mari el®, Saku Reiki, Sun Li Chung Reiki, Jinlap Reiki or Tibetan Jinlap Maitri Reiki, Chi Sekai Reiki, Vajra Reiki, and Violet Flame Reiki. I’m sure this is not an exhaustive list. Do your own research. This will help get you started. I would once again like to reiterate that there is no one best method. It is what you feel drawn to, the integrity and humility of your Master Reiki teacher, and intent. If a teacher says their method of Reiki is superior to others then I would say that is a red flag of ego. I do not connect with arrogance. Follow your intuition. All healing modalities have their place. In closing, an empowering way to live one interpretation of Reiki and its teachings is to practice The Five Spiritual Principles of Reiki Plus:

Reiki Facts From Fiction

Fiction
Some people say that Reiki was re-discovered by Mikao Usui. Reiki is not a re-discovered healing art. There were many different forms of healing prior to Reiki and there continue to be many different forms of healing today. Reiki as we know it was a gift given to Mikao Usui because of his path in the universe. Reiki uniquely uses symbols which allow you to match the frequency of a condition with the frequency of the energy you use to heal.Fact
Reiki is a healing art that was discovered by Mikao Usui in the early 1900s, we do not have an exact date but we do know that Mikao Usui embarked upon a retreat of fasting and praying upon Mount Kurama in Japan. On the 21st day he was given Reiki by God or The Universe (whichever terminology you prefer). In his own handwritten documents, Usui Sensei has said “The Usui Reiki Therapy is something no one before has discovered and bears no comparison with any other treatment in the world.Fiction
It is often announced that Reiki has origins in various different countries and that the symbols have been found on Tibetan walls or in China or India. Reiki is Japanese. The Tibetans have denied all knowledge of Reiki and Reiki symbols. Tibetan Reiki originates in the United States. All that is needed are the symbols provided by Usui, which work perfectly as they stand. When you are healing someone, sometimes you will be guided to use new symbols, but these are specific to the person you are treating and should not be used on everyone else as well.Fact
Reiki is a Japanese healing art and the Reiki symbols are of Japanese origin. Fiction
Many claim that the Reiki symbols are just a focus for intent. They see them as training wheels to give the student something to focus on which once they become proficient at healing can be respectfully discarded.
The Reiki symbols are an integral part of the healing process. Without the symbols all the healer will be doing is passively channeling energy into their clients without regard for the conditions that need treating.
If you have practiced Reiki for a long time and you can vary the frequency of the energy intuitively without using the Reiki symbols and their colours, then you can work without them. However for most people they will need to use the Reiki symbols to ensure that they are meeting the client’s needs and using Reiki to it’s full potential. If the symbols are not used properly you will merely be offering spiritual healing which works at a much slower rate and is not really Reiki at all.Fact
The Reiki symbols have a specific frequency allowing you to channel energy at the correct frequency to treat specific conditions. The shape and colour of the symbol you use defines the frequency and amplitude of the energy you use to heal. It has been demonstrated scientifically that various body parts and functions operate at a certain frequency as they work on electromagnetic signals, so it makes sense that when we heal we should use the correct frequency to counteract a condition.
A student of Hayashi explained this very same thing in an article written in 1928 “I have experienced/researched some treatments but Reiki is the best as far as I know. Reiki is the most unique and the most effective, it can really heal any disease………when my hands with activated blood are put on the patient’s body, I think my blood vibration may promote the patient’s blood vibration. Blood current, vibration may become the same” (“A Treatment to Heal Diseases, Hand Healing” by Shouoh Matsui in the magazine “Sunday Mainichi”, Mar. 4, 1928). It is also worth noting that the frequencies of the symbols may clash so they should always be used separately unless guided for a specific healing by intuition.Fiction
Some say that you can show the Reiki symbols to anyone and it does not matter who sees them because no harm will come of it. As mentioned before the symbols and their mantras invoke a certain kind of energy. Although in Reiki we use energy for good others may use it for harm so the symbols need to be protected. You should always treat the symbols with respect.Fact
The Reiki symbols have a sacred geometry and should be respected and not shown to anyone who has not learned Reiki level 1 and 2. The symbol’s geometry evokes a certain kind of energy. If someone untrained in Reiki attempts to use the Reiki symbols they may damage themselves or someone else by playing around with them. Out of respect for the founder of Reiki Mikao Usui and to protect yourself and others you should not show anyone the Reiki symbols, unless they are a qualified Reiki practitioner.Fiction
Some Reiki healers and Reiki teachers say that Reiki simply allows the body to heal itself. It does not matter where they place their hands because the energy is intelligent and will go where it needs to. They also say that Reiki can do no harm.
Using Reiki in this way is not making effective use of this amazing healing art. By claiming that the energy is intelligent it takes the responsibility away from the practitioner, so that they can do as they please without any liability.
It is your responsibility as a Reiki practitioner to treat your clients most urgent conditions and get them healthy and back on their feet as quickly as possible, within your remit. People may well say the energy is intelligent but as intelligent individuals we are given the gift of healing and intention for a reason and that reason is to help people. Logically it makes sense to use all your healing abilities whilst using Reiki on your clients and that strongly involves using Reiki in an active way.Fact
Reiki uses variable frequency energy to heal conditions directly. The most effective way to use Reiki is to use intention, visualisation along with the Reiki symbols to treat whatever condition you are treating specifically. If someone comes to you with cancer then treat the cancer. The other problems they may have can be dealt with in good time but the most serious issue should be handled immediately and by using active Reiki you are enabled to do this. Fiction
It is quite common for Reiki healers and Reiki teachers to say that they are merely channels for the energy and that Reiki has no contraindications.
You were put on this earth with many abilities and you have every reason to take an active and responsible role in healing, you are much more than just a channel for the energy. Of course you heal with the highest good of all concerned and God or The Universe will always retain control of what ultimately happens. You have to remember though that we have much within our power if we decide to use it. If you decide to learn Reiki, use Reiki to it’s full potential and accept that as discussed below Reiki must be used wisely and carefully because there are contraindications.Fact
Reiki does have contraindications. Part of being a Reiki healer is taking responsibility for your client’s welfare while they are under your treatment and accepting that Reiki does have contraindications in the same way as other therapies.
As a Reiki practitioner you have a responsibility to establish what medication your client is taking and to not treat those people that are on medication, which might affect the outcome of the healing. For example, if you are treating someone who is diabetic and taking insulin if you go ahead and heal their diabetes, making them naturally produce insulin again, they will overdose on insulin when they inject themselves.
You must be aware of everything when you are treating clients, such as doctor’s instructions, medication, the law along with other contraindications of Reiki. A Reiki healer is not just an inert channel a Reiki healer is an active participant in the healing.Fiction
There are some Reiki practitioners and Reiki teachers that specify a fixed time gap between level 1 and level 2 Reiki courses. This time delay is totally unnecessary. Level 1 Reiki teaches you to use Rei healing which is spiritual healing for yourself. It will not allow you to heal physical or emotional problems.
The Reiki teacher needs to explain to the student that Reiki Level 1 is purely spiritual healing and it is Reiki Level 2, which enables healing on a much deeper level. A student of Reiki can become very disillusioned if they are misled to believe that they can walk away after their Level 1 course and heal anything. The Reiki attunement at Level 2 is much more powerful, raises the student’s frequency much higher and brings a greater connection with God or The Universe. It is in most cases preferential to learn the Reiki Level 1 and 2 courses over two days, one following the other. This way the Reiki student leaves with a practitioner’s qualification and the ability to heal themselves and others in the best possible wayFact

You can move onto the next level of your Reiki course whenever it is right for you. Everyone has a different higher path and will move along that path at differing speeds. For some people learning Reiki is something very natural to them and they can quickly progress from one level to another for others it will be a much slower progression. It really depends on how enlightened you are, how much self-healing you do and your lifestyle after your Reiki training.
There needs to be a gap between becoming a Reiki Practitioner and teaching Reiki but it does not have to be a year or 6 months or any other given time. It is always the time that is right for you as an individual with a particular path in life.
