Energy Healing: Reiki

Reiki healing is a natural method that balances one’s life force energy. Reiki is both a spiritual practice and healing modality. As a spiritual practice it will quicken your path to higher awareness and understanding. As a healing modality it is like a light that shines on those aspects of self that no longer serve you in a healthy way. Spiritual growth is often prompted by dis-ease, whether it be body, mind, emotion or spirit. If there is a difficulty in your life, a behavior that you want to change, a way of being that you want to achieve, an illness you want to heal: Reiki can help. This treatment promotes deep relaxation, destroys energy blockages, detoxifies the system, and provides healing and vitality. Follow us: twitter.com

fastspiritualawakening.com Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. Reiki is part of an ancient Tibetan Buddhist practice that stresses empowerment. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is “life force energy”. So Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy. Using Reiki for Stress Management

Reiki, which is pronounced as ‘Ray Key’ is a well-known natural energy healing process, which employs the use of ‘laying on’ of hands in order to enhance and improve the overall health of a person and help him balance the life force energy.

Reiki healing is a simple, non-intrusive healing procedure. It is an excellent way to reduce stress, bring in more relaxation and get the mind, body in sync with the spirit.

What exactly is Reiki Healing?

According to oriental medicine, what’s causing us to be alive is the life force energy or ‘chi’ that runs through us. In Japanese, ‘Rei’ refers to ‘Higher Power’ and ‘Ki’ means force of life. When brought together, the word Reiki basically means life force energy guided by spirituality. If this life force energy is down and low, we go through phases of illness, depression and stress. If this same energy is up and high, we feel happy, relaxed and healthy.

Reiki healing is a natural spiritual healing method that is simple, safe and can be used to literally treat almost any kind of health condition.

How does Reiki Healing Actually Work?

Reiki healing is very easy to learn and simple to apply. Even though this healing method is spiritual, you don’t really need to have a belief for Reiki to work successfully, although you might end up feeling a lot more connected and in tune to your own religion.

The term healing refers to working on the physical symptoms. When this works in conjunction to the practice of Reiki, there is a greater response and better results as the body returns to wholeness.

The whole healing process works by getting rid of the disease and the pain associated with it, bringing one’s whole self closer to the its ideal form. This is done with the practitioner placing his or her hands on the affected person, for the healing to start. The energy is managed on its own and flows through and within the person who is receiving the healing.

The healer does not intervene consciously in any way. The energy is smoothly being directed by a higher power and knows exactly where it needs to go and what needs to be done.

It’s the healer’s job to actually keep a watch and listen in order to keep the healing space open.

What Kind of Benefits Does Reiki Healing Offer?

When the life’s flow of energy is disrupted in someway or is blocked, it usually leads emotional and health problems.

Stress and anxiety, negative and harmful thoughts, disturbing feelings, emotional turmoil or physical trauma, all bring in imbalances, which can lead to more serious health issues if left untreated.

When you’re relaxed and free of any stress or worry, it really helps your body to restore its natural, inner ability to heal. Reiki healing not only helps you get rid of unwanted stress, but it also gives you a way to achieve deep relaxation resulting in better sleep. Apart from this, it can also help in:

1. Speeding up the body’s natural self.

2. Alleviating and lowering pain.

3. Getting rid of toxins.

4. Assisting the body in recovering from chemotherapy and post surgery drug therapy.

5. Supporting and making the immune system stronger.

6. Breaking harmful habits and addictions.

7. Reducing blood pressure.

8. Removing any kind of energy blockages.

9. Balancing and harmonizing the energy flow of the endocrine system.

10. Emotional clearance and spiritual growth.

On the whole, if you practice Reiki the way it needs to be done, it will help you get your body more balanced and enhance its ability to handle stress and anxiety easily.

What You Need To Know About Reiki

Reiki is an ancient healing practice that originated in Tibet. This practice has been done for almost 3000 years. The Japanese have used it for relaxation and stress reduction.
It is called a healing practice because it does in fact promote the healing process. This healing takes place through the Chi. Chi is the Japanese word for life force. Reiki itself is composed of two Japanese words, Rei which means God wisdom or higher power, and Ki which means life force energy. Together Reiki is the spiritually guided life force, and that surrounds all of us.
We can all agree on the fact that we are all made up of energy. Everything in the world is made up of energy. Energy can not be created or destroyed; it can be used and manipulated for our benefit though. This is the idea behind this ancient healing.
Reiki uses the laying of hands to manipulate the life force and re-energize, restore and heal the body. The life force is what keeps us alive, if that life force becomes low, as energy can at times, the a person is more likely to become ill or stressed. Likewise if our life force energy is high we are more likely to be healthy and also happy.
To learn this practice, one must go to a Reiki Master. Teaching is done through an attunement session, this is different then the way other healing techniques are taught. This attunement process basically opens up the chakras that each and every person has. This is the crown, the heart and the palms and thereby creates an intimate link between you and the Reiki source. This is a very powerful and moving experience as the energies move through you.
Most people that have had an attunement report that they experience what we would call mystical experiences where personal messages, visions of past lives and other healing takes place. You may notice that your psychic sensitivity is heightened as well making you more intuitive then you were before. Once you have had an attunement session, it lasts forever. While many may require additional treatments depending on their ailments for many others one session has been enough.
With push towards using more natural ways of healing, Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method to use. It will remove all toxins from the body so that you can heal, reduce your risk of developing more health issues and feel better. It is used for not only physical healing, but spiritual healing as well.
Reiki is also a wonderful tool for self improvement. One of the few healing methods in the world that is known to help almost every illness and malady there is. There is an added benefit of having many positive side effects from the treatment. Those side effects include relaxation, a sense of security and feelings of peace and well-being.
This practice can also safely be used in conjunction with all other medical treatments. Using Reiki does not mean that you need to get the go ahead from your family doctor, it will not interfere with what you are currently doing. The goal is to get rid of any side effects you are experiencing and encourage your body to heal properly and naturally. Many people who have undergone such treatments have reported amazing results.

Reiki – The Word

First, here’s a look at what Reiki is …

Reiki is a Japanese spiritual and healing practice that supports you in feeling more connected to life.

You can either experience a Reiki treatment or study how to practice Reiki for yourself.

A Reiki treatment is one-hour long and is useful for specific healing or general relaxation. The client remains fully clothed at all times as the practitioner goes through a set healing process placing hands on or just off the body as agreed with the client prior to the treatment. Sex, age and condition are of no concern as the client’s own body controls this energetic process. During the treatment the body will only take the amount of energy that it requires. A Reiki treatment is not intrusive and clients do not remove clothing and no private parts of the body are touched. If a client is wishing to work on a specific issue or health problem it is advisable to book for three one-hour treatments.

A 2-day Reiki course (called Shoden) will teach you:
* meditation techniques to strengthen and clear your energy
* to gain a clearer understanding of the working of energy in your life and its benefits
* to find a spiritual connection to life helping you to feel happier and healthier
* to heal the self and others using hand positions on or near the body

Most importantly, remember that the system of Reiki is about you and your spiritual journey.

Reiki – The Word
Two kanji (pictographs from Japan) make the word Reiki.

Previously these 2 kanji have been translated as ‘Universal Energy’ (or Universal Life Force Energy) in the West. This is obviously a translation of the 2nd kanji, ki, only. Ki is naturally the energy of everything including heaven and earth, the entire universe.

The first kanji, rei, may have been left out of English translations due to the fact that the term ‘spiritual’ was not the focus of the Western practice in the 20th century.

Modern Japanese also find the kanji for Reiki to be ‘spooky’ therefore in Japan these kanji are not used. Instead a different script that is phonetical and does not contain meaning (katakana) is used.

In Chinese, the same 2 kanji used to represent Reiki are pronounced differently but have a similar meaning. In Chinese, Reiki is called Ling chi.

Ling chi is the subtlest and most highly refined of all the energies in the human system and the product of the most advanced stages of practice, whereby the ordinary energies of the body are transformed into pure spiritual vitality. This type of highly refined energy enhances spiritual awareness, improves all cerebral functions, and constitutes the basic fuel for the highest level of spiritual work.
Excerpt from Chi-gung: Harnessing the Power of the Universe by Daniel Reid

Pronunciation
To pronounce the word ‘Reiki’ in Japanese it is necessary to forego any preconceptions about language. The first sound in ‘rei’ is neither an R nor an L, as some Westerners believe. In Japanese the sound is in fact somewhere in between the two letters. The Japanese language has no correlation with English or its pronunciations.

The first time that the government initiated a standardized system and romaji (English letters used to translate kanji) were introduced was in 1885. The kanji for ‘rei’ ‘is officially spelt with an R when translating into English and is therefore pronounced with an R (even though the Japanese pronunciation might sound similar to what is understood as an L in English).

The interest in alternative medicine is growing rapidly today. Among the huge number of healing methods available, Reiki has become very popular around the world, especially since science has verified the existence of the universal life energy that Reiki is based on. Reiki is a powerful holistic healing system; it heals on all levels, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

So what is Reiki? Reiki is the Japanese word for Universal Life Force Energy. It is a very simple method that uses universal life energy, the energy which permeates our entire universe and all living things. This universal life energy is called qi or chi in China, prana in India, and ki in Japan and this is where the Reiki name derives. It circulates throughout the body and in an energy field surrounding the body. This energy field, long been known to healers and mystics, is now verified by scientists. Recent scientific experiments have verified the existence of this life force energy. Scientists have proven that everything in the universe, at a sub-atomic level, is made up of energy. Health is the harmonious flow of life energy, while imbalances in this flow, due to unhealthy habits or negative emotions lead to illness. So this subtle energy is responsible for the processes in our body on all levels: physical, emotional and mental. Reiki is channeled through the hands of the practitioner into the body of the receiver and balances the energy flow in the body.

Reiki is a holistic healing system, i.e. it addresses the whole person: the physical, mental, emotional and the spiritual levels. The body is not made up of isolated parts to be fixed, but an amazing web of energy, and in order to truly return to health, all the levels of our being must be addressed.

Reiki works on four different levels:

The physical level: Reiki strengthens the immune system. It helps in pain relief. It balances and harmonizes the function of glands and organs. It heals by opening the blocked energy channels, the meridians, and balances the chakras. With regular practice, good health and well-being is maintained.

The emotional level: Reiki reduces stress and improves relaxation, this in turn strengthens the immune system and maintains health. Reiki clears energy blockages and suppressed emotions.

The mental level: Reiki enables the person to become more positive and reach a different outlook on life. You feel more empowered and find it easier to overcome obstacles and achieve goals.

The spiritual level: Reiki enables you to feel more connected to your higher self. It aids meditation, increases intuition and provides limitless benefits of spiritual growth.

Reiki is so simple yet so powerful, and this is what makes it a unique healing system that anyone can learn, because it does not require any previous experience or special ability. The Benefits of Reiki are infinite. It enables you to take an active part in your own wellness, and increases your growth on all levels.

Reiki – A System or an Energy?

In fact – it is both! The word ‘Reiki’ is used in the West to also represent a healing system.

Usui Mikao, the founder, did not call his teachings by this name. ‘Reiki’ appeared written in conjunction with his teachings but this was merely to point out that the teachings worked with spiritual or sacred energy.

Generally, his teachings were called Usui do meaning ‘the way of Usui’, and his healings were known as Usui teate translated to mean ‘hands on healing’.

‘Reiki’ the word can be found in the branches of schools that developed from Usui’s teachings. Both the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai (Society of the Usui Spiritual Energy Healing method) and Hayashi Reiki Kenkyu kai (Hayashi’s Spiritual Energy Research Society) use the word ‘Reiki’ to signify ‘spiritual energy’ but neither actually called the system – Reiki.

Hawayo Takata was the first student of these teachings in the West. Hayashi Chujiro, her teacher, came with her to Hawaii to help her set up her practice. At his farewell dinner he presented her with a westernized certificate. This official gesture ensured that she was seen as a legal teacher and practitioner in the Japanese system. The certificate states that she was a ‘Master of the Usui Reiki System of Drugless Healing’. Once again the term ‘Reiki’ is used to mean spiritual energy rather than any complete system. Included in the certificate though are other statements that appear to refer to ‘Reiki’ as a form of energy as well as a system. This was 1938 and was the first time that there was any inconsistency in the use of the term ‘Reiki’. This was due likely to the difficulty of translating Japanese into English. From that point on the word ‘Reiki’ jointly represented the system based on Mikao Usui’s teachings as well as ‘Universal Life Force Energy’.

The downside of using ‘Reiki’ to mean a system is that people are unsure as to what particular practices fall under that name. All the systems named Reiki today claim to use spiritual energy in their practice. There appears to be no other definition to the system than that. This leaves the door wide open for individual discrepancies.

Many traditional Japanese teachers call the system ‘Ryoho’ which means ‘healing method’ or ‘Reiki Ryoho’ which means ‘spiritual energy healing method’.

Today, people even talk about ‘Reikiing’ something. This particular use of the word is a new addition to its many interpretations.

Message From the Heavens: Celestial Reiki

Let’s break the concept down into simpler explanations. If you don’t know what Reiki is, in a nutshell, it is a technique or a spiritual practice that is used to heal. In simpler terms the practice reduces stress and induces deep relaxation, among other benefits.

The technique was developed by Japanese Mikao Usui and was primarily intended as a form of therapy that could be used in tandem with conventional techniques for treating physical, emotional and mental illnesses. It is a healing technique.

The concept of celestial Reiki is the same. But instead of having a spiritual experience limited here on Earth, one who practices celestial Reiki takes into account the other planets of the solar system as well as stars and constellations, particularly the star constellations of the 12 signs of the zodiac.

According to the teachings of Reiki, there’s an energy that can be channeled to help heal diseases. This energy is universal and flows within us as our “life force”. This life force energy dictates our feelings and dispositions. The more active the energy flows through us, the healthier and happier we become.

With celestial Reiki, the “life force” that is used to heal in ordinary Reiki is taken further. The earth’s core “life force” energy is used to heal the mind, body and soul. And since all planets and star systems emit a particular “life force” signature, celestial Reiki practitioners harness that energy and use the energy from the celestial bodies to heal the human body.

Reiki treatment involves the whole body. This includes the body’s physical state and its emotional, intellectual and, of course, the spiritual well being. When you look at it, Reiki is a simple self-improvement technique. And since the “life force” energy it teaches is said to be present in all things, anybody can use this energy to heal and promote recovery.

It’s not limited to individual energy, but encompasses the universe. This is why the “life force” energy in Reiki is infinite. And regardless of how many times or how many people use it, the “life force” energy can always be utilized to heal.

However, Reiki is not taught but rather the ability is transferred by a Reiki master to his student during the stage of what they call “attunement.” At this level, the Reiki master passes the ability of Reiki to a student allowing hem to tap to the “life force” energy which will give him the ability to heal wounds and illnesses and generally improve one’s quality of life.

One need to emphasize, however, that Reiki is not a religion. Instead, those who practices Reiki get more intimate with their own religion, understanding and enriching their own religious beliefs. A Reiki practitioner has to promote the way of good living in order to master the flow of the “life force” and promote harmony and peace for true healing to happen.

Going back to celestial Reiki, what we currently know about the solar system and stars is given a new light by practicing this form of Reiki.

Understand that the universe’s “life force” energy can be channeled it into one’s hands to heal not only on the individual level but eventually heal the whole planet as well. And by connecting with each planet and star system, Reiki practitioners are able to accomplish such feat.

The Healing Art of Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese type of spiritual practice also used for stress reduction and relaxation. It is a technique that also helps promote healing either for self or for other people. It is characterized as a practice of “laying of hands”.

The healing powers of the technique are based on the idea that there is an unseen “life force energy” that flows through each person. This life force is said to be the reason why people are alive. When one’s life force energy is low, then people are likely to get sick or feel weak. If the life force is high, people fell healthy and happy.

Reiki is also a form of meditation used as a type of therapy for treating physical, emotional, and mental diseases. The name Reiki is taken from two Japanese characters that describe energy itself. The word “rei”, which means “unseen” or “spiritual” and “ki” which means “energy” or “life force” is combined to become Reiki. In English, its meaning is usually given as “universal life energy”.

It was Mikao Usui who was known to have developed Reiki in 20th century Japan. Story has it that Usui received the ability of healing after going through three weeks of fasting and meditating on top of Mount Kurama. Practitioners of Reiki use a technique similar to that of the laying on of hands.

This action is said to promote the channeling of “healing energy” to another person. The energy flows through the palms and brings along with it healing powers that can be used for self-treatment as well as for treating others.

Reiki is a simple, natural as well as safe method of dispensing spiritual healing and self-improvement. It is said to be effective in providing alternative treatment for virtually every known illness and malady. Not only that, Reiki also helps create an added beneficial effect, that of spiritual healing. This method is also said to work well when combined with other medical or therapeutic techniques to help relieve side effects and promote recovery.

Reiki, although seen as a very powerful healing technique, is an amazingly simple to learn. Reiki and the ability to use it effectively cannot be taught in the usual sense. The skill is said to be “transferred” to the student during a Reiki class. This ability is not merely learned but is passed on by a Reiki master to the student during a gathering known as “attunement”. After the skill has been passed on, it allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of “life force energy” that can then be used to improve one’s health and enhance the one’s quality of life.

Although the practice of Reiki may be spiritual in nature, it is not considered as a religion. There are no set of beliefs that one should learn about before learning to practice the technique known as Reiki. The practice does not depend on any form of dogma.

It will work whether the student believes it or not. But it is said that the practice of Reiki helps people to keep in touch of their spiritual selves rather than the intellectual concept that it provides.

The practice of Reiki also aims to develop and promote living in harmony with others. Aside from practicing Reiki and its principles, the founder of the Reiki system, Mikao Usui also recommends the practice of simple ethical ideals that can lead to peace and harmony among people. Getting to know what Reiki is may help people not only become a healing channel but also a tool to promote peace among other people.
