From an esoteric and ancient healing lineage, I added some Taoist “fu” talismanic writing for head and body healing. Enjoy, close your eyes when you see mine close. While you probably wont feel overwhelmed by the qi (like in my other videos where I give healing live), because its by video, you may feel where your energy shifts and perhaps you will feel comfortable like going into a trance, so just allow yourself to relax because the energy is for your healing and good. The audio is the Vajrasattva mantra.

Using Reiki for Stress Management

Reiki, which is pronounced as ‘Ray Key’ is a well-known natural energy healing process, which employs the use of ‘laying on’ of hands in order to enhance and improve the overall health of a person and help him balance the life force energy.

Reiki healing is a simple, non-intrusive healing procedure. It is an excellent way to reduce stress, bring in more relaxation and get the mind, body in sync with the spirit.

What exactly is Reiki Healing?

According to oriental medicine, what’s causing us to be alive is the life force energy or ‘chi’ that runs through us. In Japanese, ‘Rei’ refers to ‘Higher Power’ and ‘Ki’ means force of life. When brought together, the word Reiki basically means life force energy guided by spirituality. If this life force energy is down and low, we go through phases of illness, depression and stress. If this same energy is up and high, we feel happy, relaxed and healthy.

Reiki healing is a natural spiritual healing method that is simple, safe and can be used to literally treat almost any kind of health condition.

How does Reiki Healing Actually Work?

Reiki healing is very easy to learn and simple to apply. Even though this healing method is spiritual, you don’t really need to have a belief for Reiki to work successfully, although you might end up feeling a lot more connected and in tune to your own religion.

The term healing refers to working on the physical symptoms. When this works in conjunction to the practice of Reiki, there is a greater response and better results as the body returns to wholeness.

The whole healing process works by getting rid of the disease and the pain associated with it, bringing one’s whole self closer to the its ideal form. This is done with the practitioner placing his or her hands on the affected person, for the healing to start. The energy is managed on its own and flows through and within the person who is receiving the healing.

The healer does not intervene consciously in any way. The energy is smoothly being directed by a higher power and knows exactly where it needs to go and what needs to be done.

It’s the healer’s job to actually keep a watch and listen in order to keep the healing space open.

What Kind of Benefits Does Reiki Healing Offer?

When the life’s flow of energy is disrupted in someway or is blocked, it usually leads emotional and health problems.

Stress and anxiety, negative and harmful thoughts, disturbing feelings, emotional turmoil or physical trauma, all bring in imbalances, which can lead to more serious health issues if left untreated.

When you’re relaxed and free of any stress or worry, it really helps your body to restore its natural, inner ability to heal. Reiki healing not only helps you get rid of unwanted stress, but it also gives you a way to achieve deep relaxation resulting in better sleep. Apart from this, it can also help in:

1. Speeding up the body’s natural self.

2. Alleviating and lowering pain.

3. Getting rid of toxins.

4. Assisting the body in recovering from chemotherapy and post surgery drug therapy.

5. Supporting and making the immune system stronger.

6. Breaking harmful habits and addictions.

7. Reducing blood pressure.

8. Removing any kind of energy blockages.

9. Balancing and harmonizing the energy flow of the endocrine system.

10. Emotional clearance and spiritual growth.

On the whole, if you practice Reiki the way it needs to be done, it will help you get your body more balanced and enhance its ability to handle stress and anxiety easily.

Is stress keeping you from offering your best to your Reiki clients? An experiment conducted by Dr. Gary E. Schwartz and Dr. Beverly Rubik {found in The Energy Healing Experiments by Gary E. Schwartz. Pg. 139} presents evidence to suggest that Reiki practitioners who give sessions while under stress are not providing quality energy until their stress levels are reduced. The experiment involved applying a certain amount of heat to cultures of E. coli bacteria (bacteria found in the human digestive system) until the E. coli colony’s growth had been reduced by 50% due to death or damage to the cells. Fourteen Reiki practitioners were asked to provide sessions to one set of E. coli test tubes over a period of three days, treating a separate set each day. As part of the procedure, they each filled out a standard wellness form every day. There were also matched sets of test tubes to act as a control. If the Reiki proved effective, the treated E. coli samples would show greater growth than the control sample.

Amazingly, almost half of the Reiki treated samples showed a decrease in growth and healing. After pondering the situation for a few days, the possibility of the Reiki practitioner’s emotional state negatively impacting the test occurred to Dr. Schwartz. As he looked over the wellness forms, he found that the E. coli samples showing decreased growth were treated by practitioners that reported high levels of stress that day. It was also noted that those practitioners felt much better after flowing Reiki for fifteen minutes. This prompted Dr. Schwartz and Dr. Rubik to modify the experiment.

The fourteen Reiki practitioners were asked to return for another two days. They filled out the wellness forms, as before, but this time they were to give Reiki to another person for fifteen minutes before treating the E. coli samples. The results were interesting. The overall growth rate for the twenty-eight test tubes (fourteen practitioners times two sessions) showed significant statistical growth in almost three quarters of the samples. When examining the other one quarter that did not grow positively, it was discovered that the practitioners working with those test tubes were significantly more stressed than the others.

This experiment reveals the importance of considering our own health and mental state as Reiki practitioners. It is very easy to get caught up in taking care of others and ignoring our own needs but if we are not balanced, not only do we suffer but our clients do as well. William Lee Rand of the International Center for Reiki Training recommends giving yourself Reiki for a few minutes before every session and the E. coli experiment validates this practice. In the future, take the time to address your own needs before taking care of another’s. You will be of far greater service that way.

Reiki – A System or an Energy?

In fact – it is both! The word ‘Reiki’ is used in the West to also represent a healing system.

Usui Mikao, the founder, did not call his teachings by this name. ‘Reiki’ appeared written in conjunction with his teachings but this was merely to point out that the teachings worked with spiritual or sacred energy.

Generally, his teachings were called Usui do meaning ‘the way of Usui’, and his healings were known as Usui teate translated to mean ‘hands on healing’.

‘Reiki’ the word can be found in the branches of schools that developed from Usui’s teachings. Both the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai (Society of the Usui Spiritual Energy Healing method) and Hayashi Reiki Kenkyu kai (Hayashi’s Spiritual Energy Research Society) use the word ‘Reiki’ to signify ‘spiritual energy’ but neither actually called the system – Reiki.

Hawayo Takata was the first student of these teachings in the West. Hayashi Chujiro, her teacher, came with her to Hawaii to help her set up her practice. At his farewell dinner he presented her with a westernized certificate. This official gesture ensured that she was seen as a legal teacher and practitioner in the Japanese system. The certificate states that she was a ‘Master of the Usui Reiki System of Drugless Healing’. Once again the term ‘Reiki’ is used to mean spiritual energy rather than any complete system. Included in the certificate though are other statements that appear to refer to ‘Reiki’ as a form of energy as well as a system. This was 1938 and was the first time that there was any inconsistency in the use of the term ‘Reiki’. This was due likely to the difficulty of translating Japanese into English. From that point on the word ‘Reiki’ jointly represented the system based on Mikao Usui’s teachings as well as ‘Universal Life Force Energy’.

The downside of using ‘Reiki’ to mean a system is that people are unsure as to what particular practices fall under that name. All the systems named Reiki today claim to use spiritual energy in their practice. There appears to be no other definition to the system than that. This leaves the door wide open for individual discrepancies.

Many traditional Japanese teachers call the system ‘Ryoho’ which means ‘healing method’ or ‘Reiki Ryoho’ which means ‘spiritual energy healing method’.

Today, people even talk about ‘Reikiing’ something. This particular use of the word is a new addition to its many interpretations.
