No you cannot!
Actually I totaly disagree to this video, cause the master symbol is not allowed to use by anybody. It is a great power and if you are not ready to use it, than you can cause really big problems for example in your KARMA or in someone other’s Karma.

there is a woman offering a course stating you can be a reiki master in 48 hours. Is it that easy to learn?

I have been doing reiki for about 3 years and Tai Chi for about 12 years. And one thing that really amazes me about reiki is makes you examine the nature of your own beliefs. If there is nothing to reiki and it is simply beief thats fine I guess it about belief. But like any belief system if it is put to the test and a result is demanded it does not work.

too right! I think Reiki is a format for people to use and chakra work is important but I don’t see someone else’s symbolism is important in attuning yourself to spiritual energy!

rofl is funny how things are always been changed and people are always debating about the symbols been original or not, bottom line is make it simple and visualize white light coming from your body into the person you want to heal, simple as that

Actually in Japan they do not use the Reiki Master symbol, Takata found it on the reverse side of Usui’s scrolls in shimpenden and she miss interpreted it as a Reiki symbol, however when the symbol was looked into it was found its influence came from the temple at Karama and translated means “Love light and power”

Any native Japanese speaker will tell you the 2nd character is pronounced “kou” not “koo”. And I have seen a more traditional kanji for “myo” or “light”. There are so many versions of these symbols floating about its ridiculous. Bottomline, if you or the recipient can feel the energy, that’s all that matters.

Takata supposedly changed the Symbols to make them easier for Western people to draw. The original Dai Koo Mio Kanji is no longer used by competent Masters

I have no Reiki 1 symbol on the method I teach. Symbols are introducted on Level 2 only.

does the reiki 1 symbol represent the 7 chakras as it seems to have 7 points in the alignment

by using the reiki symbols was more effective then just laying the hands on the clients, after reading that you have to visualise the symbols or draw with your lots ,when i started was my wife in the morning that she was sleeping and i applied by visualising the symbols and enbeded on her arm and left my arm resting for few minitues and i wanted to know what is going to happen and later after ten minutes she told me to remove my hand from her body ,beause it was .

Personally, I think Reiki is a great system, but I understand the tradition has been skewed a bit by various interpretations over the years. For instance, the term “Reiki” probably wasn’t even used by Mikao Usui, and thus the “tradition” may not have been the same now as it had been when founded. It may be a benefit to all practitioners to be aware of this–particularly Reiki masters/teachers–so that we can understand the system we use to heal. At the very least, it entitles respect to Usui.

If you read my comments from five months ago and perhaps do a little bit of research, you may arrive at the same conclusion that the symbol is not necessarily a symbol–just Asian handwriting. For instance, Dai is written and spoken the same way as in the symbol in both Japanese and Chinese. Koo is written the same between both and spoken similarly. You can find these often by just looking inside an Asian newspaper.

I too learned that the symbols are sacred (though not necessarily secret), and I would not necessarily reveal them to anyone. In recent years, however, science is really taking an interest into Reiki (whether to debunk it or prove it), and I think practitioners should really look deeper into the tradition to examine why Reiki may or may not work, or why there are symbols in the first place.

I began my Reiki in 1980 and also learned that the symbols were sacred and to be kept secret, however, along my path I have come to believe that there can be greater good by giving any seeker ther gift of these symbols to alow anyone witht he desire to “heal” our terribly disrupted humanity is a good thing.

The third character, myo, can also mean bright. So another translation might be “great light bright.”

Just a thought when I first saw this symbol during my master training. Having an asianic background, I recognized immediately that it’s really not a symbol in itself. It is like a word made up of three kanji characters. The top character that looks like a man means “big” or “great.” The six strokes in the middle means “light.” The third I not completely sure how to translate, but some adaptations of the symbol points to the start of a noun. This symbol invokes “the great light.”
