What Is Reiki? (Part II)

In a previous article we have said that there are three degrees of Reiki and we were talking about the first degree where the attenuement heals the physical diseases of the receiver. When the person receive this attenuement two or three weeks are necessary to adapt. In this period the energy can activate in an unpredictable moment even when healing is not requested. In these moments the person can have strange and unpleasant feelings. He or she can also visualize events of the past lives or even have physical perturbations (diarrhoea, etc.).
When the healer is at the beginning of his or her experience with Reiki the energy modifies the capacity of the healer to canalize it. A greater quantity of energy goes into his or her aura and body. At this moment aura and chakras are cleaned. If the level of energy is such to cause physical problems it is recommended that the beginner heals him or herself or the receiver in order to balance the energy and reduce the unpleasant sensations. After receiving the first degree of Reiki it is necessary to undergo as many healing sessions as possible for the first month for him or herself or the person to be healed.
With the second degree of Reiki the level of energy increases a lot. This energy focuses on the complete healing of the person, including the emotional and mental aspects. With the transmission this energy brings back all the emotions and problems of the past (including those of the previous lives) and removes them. This process can take more than one month, sometimes six months or more and some pain can be felt, but it is absolutely necessary.
The second degree of Reiki makes available more energy for each healing session. Moreover means and methods are made available to heal from remote. At this aim three new symbols are made available and must be used. These are already available in the aura of the healer at the first degree and flow out automatically from his or her hands during each healing session. During the second degree of Reiki the healer learn how to drive the energy flux and the gets the information to canalize the energy and make the attenuements when at the third degree.
The third level is that to become Master, i.e. a teacher or expert in Reiki. The attenuement is related to the spiritual energy and heals the receiver. While the second degree required a strong effort with the third level the process is easier. The healer increases his or her capabilities in canalizing the energy and healing. Two more symbols are also provided. More information on the symbols and methods of attenuement transmissions are also provided.
At the first degree the healer has only to put his or her hands on the receiver to perform the healing process. The energy then does the rest, just flowing out from the hands. The energy knows where to go even better than the healer. So he or she does not need to worry about how to drive it. All the levels of the body are healed: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. This allows to completely healing the receiver. Reiki will solve the problem whatever is the cause of it. It will also heal other diseases in case the energy should find them in the way of healing.
When we talk about Reiki we cannot talk only of the physical body. There are also other three invisible bodies where the energy is present: the vibrational bodies. The healing process according to Reiki involves also these bodies. If compared to the traditional medicine, which treats only the physical body, Reiki performs a deeper healing process achieving better results. With Reiki we not only remove the problem but also the cause of it at the root. In fact a disease can also have a cause that can be not physical. Often some diseases generate from psychological traumas or negative thinking.

Natural Healing Therapies Today

Find Natural Healing Therapies in the United States and Canada. Though there are numerous CAM (complementary and alternative medicine) therapies from which to choose, natural healing therapies that are commonly offered at natural healthcare schools include practical instruction in massage therapy, herbal medicine, homeopathy, and holistic healing, among others.

Natural healing therapies like massage therapy are a safe and natural treatment to reduce stress and alleviate pain. Individuals who would like to pursue an education in natural healing therapies such as this gain in-depth instruction in anatomy, physiology and kinesiology. In addition, hands-on training is provided in an assortment of bodywork techniques including deep tissue, Swedish massage, and sports massage – to list a few. Programs in massage therapy often range from 300-1,000 hours, and result in a certificate or diploma.

Training in other natural healing therapies like reflexology involve studies of a science based on the zones and reflex areas of the ears, feet and hands that correlate to specific bodily systems, glands and organs. A relatively condensed program, graduates of a reflexology course can go onto becoming reflexologists or may wish to integrate natural healing therapies like this into established massage therapy practices.

Some natural healing therapies taught at holistic healing schools include training in aromatherapy, anti-aging medicine, life coaching, art and poetry therapies, hypnotherapy, colon hydrotherapy, herbology, polarity therapy, Qi gong and so much more. For example, if you would like to learn about natural healing therapies like herbal medicine, you have the option to enroll in an introductory course where you will learn basic principles and theories of the craft and how to effectively use safe, home remedies for common ailments.

In some healing arts schools, academic programs offering natural healing therapies like herbal medicine, naturopathy, chiropractic and acupuncture may lead to a degree. It is always wise to review curriculums and course prerequisites prior to applying to the college or school of choice. In most cases, general educational programs that offer natural healing therapies like Reiki, healing touch, massage therapy and other natural healthcare modalities do not require a college degree or other formal education.

Overall, natural healing therapies are gaining wide acceptance throughout the general public. This is one of the many motivations why individuals might seriously consider a career in natural healthcare. Enrolling in a natural healing school to become a natural healthcare provider is a good start to a long-term, professional goal.

The interest in alternative medicine is growing rapidly today. Among the huge number of healing methods available, Reiki has become very popular around the world, especially since science has verified the existence of the universal life energy that Reiki is based on. Reiki is a powerful holistic healing system; it heals on all levels, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

So what is Reiki? Reiki is the Japanese word for Universal Life Force Energy. It is a very simple method that uses universal life energy, the energy which permeates our entire universe and all living things. This universal life energy is called qi or chi in China, prana in India, and ki in Japan and this is where the Reiki name derives. It circulates throughout the body and in an energy field surrounding the body. This energy field, long been known to healers and mystics, is now verified by scientists. Recent scientific experiments have verified the existence of this life force energy. Scientists have proven that everything in the universe, at a sub-atomic level, is made up of energy. Health is the harmonious flow of life energy, while imbalances in this flow, due to unhealthy habits or negative emotions lead to illness. So this subtle energy is responsible for the processes in our body on all levels: physical, emotional and mental. Reiki is channeled through the hands of the practitioner into the body of the receiver and balances the energy flow in the body.

Reiki is a holistic healing system, i.e. it addresses the whole person: the physical, mental, emotional and the spiritual levels. The body is not made up of isolated parts to be fixed, but an amazing web of energy, and in order to truly return to health, all the levels of our being must be addressed.

Reiki works on four different levels:

The physical level: Reiki strengthens the immune system. It helps in pain relief. It balances and harmonizes the function of glands and organs. It heals by opening the blocked energy channels, the meridians, and balances the chakras. With regular practice, good health and well-being is maintained.

The emotional level: Reiki reduces stress and improves relaxation, this in turn strengthens the immune system and maintains health. Reiki clears energy blockages and suppressed emotions.

The mental level: Reiki enables the person to become more positive and reach a different outlook on life. You feel more empowered and find it easier to overcome obstacles and achieve goals.

The spiritual level: Reiki enables you to feel more connected to your higher self. It aids meditation, increases intuition and provides limitless benefits of spiritual growth.

Reiki is so simple yet so powerful, and this is what makes it a unique healing system that anyone can learn, because it does not require any previous experience or special ability. The Benefits of Reiki are infinite. It enables you to take an active part in your own wellness, and increases your growth on all levels.

Crystal & Gemstone Healing – Does it Work?

I’m often asked about Crystals and Gemstones and have recently updated my free eBook on the subject. I’m actually quite surprised at how popular the topic is!

Having said that, I haven’t actually included a section specifically for animals and pets so I hope this article helps to answer some of those questions, you may have.

It’s extremely important to be relaxed and grounded when using crystals to heal animals. My own Weimaraner became ill fairly recently and I successfully used a combination of Crystal Healing and Reiki to ease his obvious discomfort. Of course, we took him to see a vet just to be sure he wasn’t suffering from anything too serious and I would recommend you do the same. (In my opinion, crystal therapy is a complimentary therapy not an alternative therapy)

I initially placed some Amethyst and Rose Quartz under his bed so I could see his reaction to the crystals. He actually curled up, looking very sorry for himself, and had a very long, deep sleep.

I’d also charged a large Amethyst and placed in his water bowl and after a few nudges with his nose he finished off the whole bowl which was very good news as he’d been drinking very little.

Anyone who knows Weimaraners also knows that they are not the type to sit still for long and are extremely inquisitive. However, Smokey Blue was feeling so poorly that he was happy to lie still while I gently circled (anti-clockwise) a tumbled Rose Quartz over his tummy. Why anti-clockwise? I was hoping to remove any nasty bugs that were lurking and often use an anti-clockwise movement before moving on to positive clockwise energy.

At one point, he re-positioned himself so his head was in my lap and I took that as a sign to start the clockwise movement. I put the Rose Quartz to one side and gently used clockwise movements, with a tumbled Amethyst, to increase the positive energy flow to his tummy area. By now he was relaxed enough to fall asleep and I took the opportunity to give some Reiki healing as well.

He wasn’t immediately well but after another night, sleeping with the Crystals, he’d perked up by the morning and was almost back to his old self. By lunch time, we all knew he was definitely back to his old self!

Smokey Blue continues to sleep with Rose Quartz and Amethyst under his bed and, I’m extremely pleased to report, he hasn’t been ill since.

Remember – Clear Quartz is a Master Crystal that can be used in place of others if they’re not available.

De-Stressing with Reiki

Bringing balance into our lives is the most effective way to get the best out of life. The system of Reiki centers on bringing the body back into balance. This is a Japanese technique from the early 1900′s created by Mikao Usui. The word can be translated as either ‘spiritual energy’ or ‘universal energy’. The first level is taught over a two-day period and has dual competencies; the student may use it on clients (in conjunction with other therapies) and on the self as a personal development tool.

The purpose of a Reiki treatment is to re-align and bring the body into a natural balance physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. The energy washes down through the body clearing energetic obstructions and strengthening the flow of this energetic ‘river’, or the meridians. Therefore, there are similarities between the system of Reiki and other therapies such as acupuncture. The differences are that this system does not manipulate the energy or body, is not intrusive and is an extremely simple technique that anyone can learn and use in complete safety.

A client will find that Reiki works on many levels. This system is not diagnostic and does not aim to achieve specific results. It is believed that the client’s body is always in survival mode and will therefore draw the energy where he/she needs it rather than where the practitioner believes it is beneficial. This is why the practitioner cannot harm the client, as it the client’s body that is in control of what is energetically happening.

To be aligned or balanced sounds wonderful but what does it mean for the client? Initially, one moves into a deep, restful space and may or may not actually sense the energy according to one’s sensitivity. Benefits of this ‘giving over’ to the energy may be clarity of thought, renewed physical strength, calmness, reduced stress levels, a sense of connectedness as well as the easing of conditions such as insomnia, depression and addiction. True relaxation is reflected in one’s face after a Reiki treatment. Stress tightens the muscles and skin and when we relax we look and feel years younger.

Clients do not need to remove any clothing during a treatment and hands are placed either on or just off the body. Practitioners are taught to channel energy from around them through their bodies and out through their hands. The client then draws on this energy. This means that the practitioner does not use his/her own energy and feels refreshed afterwards rather than exhausted. In fact the practitioner is receiving a treatment at the same time as the client -making it beneficial for all involved.

To practise this system it is necessary to learn from a Reiki teacher (often called a Reiki Master). It is possible to integrate Reiki into any health or beauty modality once the practitioner has completed the first level of the 3-part system. If the practitioner wished to work solely with the system of Reiki then it would be suggested that the practitioner complete the second level of the system and join a student clinic to build experience with the energy and on-on-one client skills. The third level of the system continues the practitioner’s own personal development and may be used to begin studying toward becoming a Reiki teacher.

Clients today are more interested in spirituality and well-being than ever before. To be able to bring these elements into the traditional clinic environment of a salon or spa, a special atmosphere is created. Clients today expect ‘Holistic’ treatments. This meaning that they wish to be pampered from every direction including the more mystical and spiritual paths.

It is exciting for clients to know that when they come for a treatment there is likely to be a new element added to the more traditional salon and spa techniques. If a client knows that the practitioner is continually upgrading their knowledge and abilities then the client will also feel confident in such capable hands.

www.thirdeyereiki.com Reiki level II attunement at third eye reiki Services. By reiki master teacher AB Saveetha

Manifestation has been a hot topic ever since the release of the movie The Secret. Using energy, focus and intention to help create the best outcome in our lives is not a new concept. How does Reiki fit into this?

Reiki energy carries the essence and vibration of love. Love is the only energy that is real. Everything else is illusion. When channeling Reiki energy toward a future vision, the vibrational quality of Reiki helps to attract situations, people, and opportunities to us that also carry that same vibration.

Just as we must let go of the outcome when giving a Reiki healing, in manifestation, we must do the same. Holding onto and becoming invested in our vision in a needy, or rigid manner means that we are operating from a level of fear. Fear is a different vibration than love and will create more situations where our fears are triggered. This can be a learning opportunity and a chance to transform ourselves as the universe always mirrors our core beliefs.

From my own experience, I manifested a job after being out of work for nine months. I used a Reiki Manifestation Triangle. Here is how you construct the triangle.

1. On a large sheet of paper, draw a triangle

2. Beside the left point, write your name

3. Beside the right point, write your goal in a brief sentence. For example – to own and live in my own house.

4. Above the top point, write the outcome. The outcome needs to be very specific and detailed. If you ask for vague, you manifest vague. Here is an example – a two-story house, in Etobicoke, with three bedrooms, cream coloured wall to wall carpeting, with finished basement newly painted in green pastel where I spend each evening relaxing with a great book, etc. You get the idea.

5. In the middle of the triangle, write – I am now manifesting this or something even better for the highest good of all. Or use your own words.

Everyday I reviewed each corner of the triangle. I would draw a Reiki symbol over it, read it out loud and send energy over the words. In order to help me visualize the Reiki Symbols, I used a pen to draw a Cho-Ku-Rei over each corner.

I started with my name, moved to the goal, and then to the outcome. When I sent energy to the outcome, I visualized it with as much emotion and focus as I could. I saw myself happy in my new job, loving my coworkers, and feeling fulfilled. Then I would end the session by reading the statement in the middle of the triangle. The final step is to give thanks and let it go. Just trust that it is starting to take shape in the energetic realm.

It took less than a month using the Reiki Manifestation Triangle before I was working again. There are many manifestation techniques that you can incorporate Reiki energy. Try this one and may you manifest a life full of love, joy, and peace.

Reiki – A System or an Energy?

In fact – it is both! The word ‘Reiki’ is used in the West to also represent a healing system.

Usui Mikao, the founder, did not call his teachings by this name. ‘Reiki’ appeared written in conjunction with his teachings but this was merely to point out that the teachings worked with spiritual or sacred energy.

Generally, his teachings were called Usui do meaning ‘the way of Usui’, and his healings were known as Usui teate translated to mean ‘hands on healing’.

‘Reiki’ the word can be found in the branches of schools that developed from Usui’s teachings. Both the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai (Society of the Usui Spiritual Energy Healing method) and Hayashi Reiki Kenkyu kai (Hayashi’s Spiritual Energy Research Society) use the word ‘Reiki’ to signify ‘spiritual energy’ but neither actually called the system – Reiki.

Hawayo Takata was the first student of these teachings in the West. Hayashi Chujiro, her teacher, came with her to Hawaii to help her set up her practice. At his farewell dinner he presented her with a westernized certificate. This official gesture ensured that she was seen as a legal teacher and practitioner in the Japanese system. The certificate states that she was a ‘Master of the Usui Reiki System of Drugless Healing’. Once again the term ‘Reiki’ is used to mean spiritual energy rather than any complete system. Included in the certificate though are other statements that appear to refer to ‘Reiki’ as a form of energy as well as a system. This was 1938 and was the first time that there was any inconsistency in the use of the term ‘Reiki’. This was due likely to the difficulty of translating Japanese into English. From that point on the word ‘Reiki’ jointly represented the system based on Mikao Usui’s teachings as well as ‘Universal Life Force Energy’.

The downside of using ‘Reiki’ to mean a system is that people are unsure as to what particular practices fall under that name. All the systems named Reiki today claim to use spiritual energy in their practice. There appears to be no other definition to the system than that. This leaves the door wide open for individual discrepancies.

Many traditional Japanese teachers call the system ‘Ryoho’ which means ‘healing method’ or ‘Reiki Ryoho’ which means ‘spiritual energy healing method’.

Today, people even talk about ‘Reikiing’ something. This particular use of the word is a new addition to its many interpretations.
